About the Library

History and Locations

The Aurora Public Library was first established in 1929 as a single-room library in a house at 1516 Dallas Street. It is now recognized as one of Colorado's most active and cost-efficient library systems. The library now offers seven locations to serve Aurora's residents.

Library Materials

In addition to visiting our branches, the public can access Odyssey, the library's online catalog. Odyssey contains all library materials available for checkout, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, CDs, videotapes and government documents. Most materials can be requested online and held for pickup at any branch location.

The library also maintains special lists to help you find the materials that most interest you. New Arrivals lets you browse the most recent additions to our collection in popular categories, while Book Newsletters notify you by email of the hottest titles in your chosen subjects. Programs and Services

The library strives to provide the best services, programs and materials collections at a minimal cost to tax paying residents. Most of our branches offer regular storytimes, and there are always plenty of special events and activities for all ages. The library also offers several Book Clubs that meet regularly throughout the year.

For computer users, we offer free computer classes, and all branches offer public computers that can be reserved for a predetermined period of time. In addition, all branches offer free Wireless Internet Access for patrons who bring their own wireless-enabled laptop or handheld device.
